Comments about our program:

My son has just completed his first year in the Vermont Wolves AAU Basketball program and I personally could not be happier with the amount of growth and development as a basketball player he has experienced over the past year.  Coach Jason and his staff provide the fundamentals, competition, repetition and character development that is exactly what young developing basketball player need.  I would highly recommend this program for any basketball player looking to take their game to the next level”

Vermont Wolves has made the difference for my son!

Coaching plays a huge role in a players self-esteem and their ability to grow as a player. Without a doubt, the coaching that my son has received while part of the Vermont Wolves AAU team has made a big difference in his game. He’s more confident on the court, his skills have improved, and he’s grown mentally and physically as a player.  I can’t say enough good things about Coach Jason McGahey and all of the Wolves coaches. They run a great program!

"The Winooski boys basketball program is lucky to have the majority of its players playing in great local AAU programs.  The Vermont Wolves is one such program.  I have noticed an increased interest in the sport from its players as well as improved skill.  There has also been an improvement in all offensive and defensive skills as well as a better understanding of schemes and strategies on both sides of the ball."

Winooski Athletic Director and Middle school boys "A" basketball coach

The Vermont Wolves program is a very well run program.  The coaches are very knowledgeable, levelheaded, approachable and join in on the practices to teach and help improve kids' skills.  They are very good about communicating the schedules and any changes that come up.  My son has had such a great experience with this program and can't wait each year for the season to start.

My son has been a happy participant with the VT Wolves Basketball club for six years.  Their commitment to excellent instruction, balanced with respect and care for every player, is outstanding.  The positive role modeling for these kids is visible on and off the court.  I value the exceptional guidance and camraderie that is evident in the way they win, and in they way that they lose.

I am such a big fan of this program.

"Basketball is a different game today but that doesn't mean that fundamentals, character and heart no longer matter. If anything, they matter even more since there is a tendency for players to celebrate because they made an opponent look foolish ("breaking someone's ankles") or celebrating a three as if they won a championship (vs. just having just scored a single basket in a game of made baskets). The Vermont Wolves led by Program Director Jason McGahey and his team of likeminded coaches understand this basic fact: fundamentals, character and heart matter. They teach basketball in a way that has helped our son recognize that teamwork, respect for your teammates and opponents, and dedication to the game are what matter most. We saw the coaching staff turn our son's tendency to over-dribble for style points into an understanding that the shortest distance between two points remains a straight line. We've been impressed with the development of our son's offensive and defensive skills and appreciate the small coaching moments that the staff provide in real time in practices and games. While we witnessed other programs allow their players to talk back to their coaches, to referees, to opponents and even to parents, we saw time and time again the Wolves emphasizing character and composure. This does not mean that the Wolve are a team that don't want and love to win. But it's about winning for the right reasons — because you played the best basketball you could for however long you were on the floor. We saw the coaches take a ragtag group of players — mostly initially strangers to one another — and turn them into a winning team with contributions from all players. No matter how much a player played each game, they were still coached, supported, and encouraged. We appreciate the commitment, the knowledge of the game, and the teaching capacity that it takes to make our sons and daughters not only better players but better people."
