Announcement: March, 3rd, 2025

Dear Players, Parents, Alumni, and Friends of the Program,
After many incredible years as the head basketball coach and program director, it is with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement from both roles. This decision has not come easily, but it is time for me to step back.

Over the years, I have had the honor of working with some truly exceptional athletes and individuals. Together, we built something special as a community, a family, and a winning tradition that will always hold a place in my heart. While I may be stepping down, I am proud of the growth and achievements of each player and the success of the program as a whole.
As many of you know, the program will be on hiatus, which will likely be permanent. While this is a difficult chapter, I have full faith that the values we’ve instilled in our players will continue to inspire future generations.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported me and the balance of our dedicated coaching staff throughout these years. Specifically, thank you to Coach Dan and my wife, whose unwavering support was the backbone of what we were able to accomplish. Special thanks also go out to Ed Hockenbury, Chris Freije, Evyn Banach, Jordan Rock, Jason Stumpff, Colin Simons, Chris Mongeon, Janelle Sandberg and many others. From the players who gave it their all on the court, to the families who have been there every step of the way, I will always cherish the moments we shared. The friendships, the victories, and even the losses, have shaped me in ways I’ll never forget.

As I embark on this new chapter of life, I will carry the memories of our time together with me. I am incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished, and I look forward to seeing where the future takes each of you. Thank you for an unforgettable 9 years.
With immense gratitude and respect,
Jason McGahey

Mission Statement
The basketball program plays an essential role in teaching players of all ethnicities and backgrounds to conduct themselves with honesty and integrity, make sacrifices, strive for excellence, persevere through adversity, and compete with dignity and pride while developing a commitment to teamwork.

Program Description
The Vermont Wolves are a 501c3 non-profit AAU basketball club. We were founded by a passionate group of volunteers with nearly 60 years of combined experience in coaching youth sports. Our focus is always on the fundamentals.
The staff is committed to teaching through a high level of engagement with the participants. We do not recruit new members. As a non-profit, our staff carefully selects players that inquire with us who fit our vision and those who will put in tireless effort to get the most out the training. We preach the need to make progress every day.
Yelling has no place in youth sports. Instead, we work very hard in a structured environment of mutual respect to build well rounded youth athletes with the basketball and communication skills that will prepare them for success as long as they play the sport and on into their adult lives.
Our players range from 12 to 18 years old from over 20 different schools. The organization operates with emphasis on our core values of Effort, Attitude, Accountability & Attendance. The coaching staff are independently successful and strong role models both on and off the court.

Our local and travel teams cost less than any year round program in Vermont. Cost should never be an obstacle for kids to play sports. Contact us today to learn more.

The Vermont Wolves offer individual and group training as part of the tournament season and in the offseason to help take your game to the next level. Our trainers work on skill development, strength and shooting instruction with our shooting machine.

"When you are not practicing, someone else is getting better"
Allen Iverson

"I practice to the point that it’s uncomfortable how hard I go, that way in a game things slow down"
Stephen Curry
